Twokinds Licensing

I get quite a few people from time to time who come up to me to report that one of my images has been 'stolen' by someone else. Usually it's a edited page from the comic, or a recolored image from my gallery here. I just want to set the record straight, so hopefully I can avoid more of these 'reports' in the future.

My public work is hereby covered under a Creative Commons license, unless otherwise stated. You can find it here:

Creative Commons

So, what does this mean? It means, anyone is free to:

  • Share my work - You can save my work, print it out, and show it to other people. You may post it on forums, imageboards, and chatrooms. You could even zip up the entirety of my comic and distribute it as a torrent if you so felt inclined.
  • Adapt my work - This means people are free to modify my work. You may translate the comic pages into another language, recolor something from my gallery, create fan art or fiction of my characters or world, create your own comic or artwork based on my work, etc...

You are allowed to do any of this, so long as you:

  • Provide attribution - You must give me credit as the source. Do not claim my work as your own.
  • Non-commercial - You cannot sell my work, or include my work in anything for sale, unless you make specific arrangements with me.
  • Share-Alike - If you do modify my work, it should also be covered under this same license, or an equivalent license.

This license applies to all my publicly available work. It does not apply to my commercial work, such as comic books and booklets.

So why am I doing this? Because it's how I think it should be. I put out my work publicly for people to enjoy, and I don't get hung up when folks decide to add to or adapt my work in other ways. So this is my official way of proclaiming that I'm cool with that. I am not giving up all the rights to my work, but I am opening up some of it to you.

Hawaii Family Week

For this first week of August, I am taking some time off in Honolulu, Hawaii. Some of my family from Japan have come from across the ocean from the other direction, and together we're having a family holiday. As a result, I will not have a lot of time to myself to draw, so some delays are possible. I'll still try my best to keep up with my workload during the nights when activities die down. I apologize in advance if the comic does not appear on it's regular schedule this week.

LVL UP! 24 Years Old

On this day, 24 years ago, I was born! It's a strange feeling, this... getting older. It's distinctly different from the feeling I got as a teenager, when I was always looking forward to my next celebration. There's no denying it now - I really am an adult. This year, for the first time, I am considered an independent in the eyes of the law (as far as my college is concerned, anyway).

Yet, I don't feel like an adult. To be honest, I'm still not sure how an adult is supposed to feel. Often times, I find myself pretending to do what I assume are mature things normal adults do. However, In my head my self-image hasn't caught up yet. It still wants to think I'm the same kid who, 8 years ago, put pencil to paper and started drawing comics for the first time while watching cartoons on TV. And I'm not sure I want that to change.

I'm happy how my life has been turning out so far, and I'm constantly thankful for the opportunities I've had. And while I know growing up is all part of the process, I think I still want to continue secretly enjoying Saturday morning cartoons and drawing comics til all hours of the night. I guess the only thing I can really do is wait and see what the future has in store for me in my next 24 years of life. So thanks for all of you aging along with me. I'll see you there. :)

Slight Technical Difficulties

As some of you might have noticed, the forums were having some problems today. The server which hosts the forums went down for what was suspected to be an update, but in the process interrupted the database. It resulted in the loss of the forum's topics data. On top of that, the forums were not properly backed up, and thus could not be restored. However, thanks primarily to the work of chatroom resident ktemkin, the topics were restored by referencing the post data, which remained intact. It took nearly the whole day, but eventually, the forum was completely put back together. And from now on I've learned my lesson - daily backups are being made to preserve forum data in the future. I also want to thank AJ for providing his backup data, and avwolf for his insight on the problem.

Now that the forums have been rebuilt, everything can go back to normal. Unfortunately, working on this problem has put me behind on my normal duties as comic artist. I apologize - and I promise the comic will be up as soon as I manage to finish it. On an unrelated note, tomorow is my birthday! So, as a result of this minor delay, you guys will likely find an update right on my yearly celebration of birth, on July 28th. See you then!
